Southwestern University senior Marie Bruce (Austin, TX/Connally HS) and sophomore Samantha Lingamfelter (New Braunfels, TX/New Braunfels HS) have both been selected to the AVCA South Region All-Region Team released on Thursday (Nov. 8).

Bruce was already named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team, the third all-conference selection of her career, and earned All-Tournament honors at the SCAC Championship Tournament this past weekend as the Pirates finished third. For the season, Bruce has averaged 10.71 assists per game, 3.01 digs per game and 1.23 kills per game. She has a hitting percentage of .251. She will finish her career in fourth place on the SCAC career assists list and second in assists per game. Last season, Bruce was an Honorable Mention All-Region honoree.

Lingamfelter earned Backrow Player of the Year and Second Team All-SCAC honors for her play this season. She is averaging 5.19 digs per game with 758 total digs. Lingamfelter has seven games this season with at least 30 digs including a career-high 41 digs against Birmingham-Southern College. Also this season, the sophomore has just 32 receiving errors in 146 games played. Lingamfelter is on pace to shatter the SCAC career digs (2,260) and digs per game (4.77) records as she stands at 1,443 digs and 5.23 digs per game in just two seasons.

The Pirates play Washington & Lee University in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship tournament on Thursday (Nov. 8) at 3:30 pm in Sherman, TX.
