Southwestern University junior Marie Bruce (Austin, TX/Connally HS) has been named an Honorable Mention All-Region selection to the AVCA South Region team that was released on Wednesday (Nov. 8).

Bruce finished the regular season averaging 11.02 assists per game and had 1,377 assists total. She was second in the conference in total assists and assists per game. The junior setter also was third on the team in digs with 395 for a 3.16 digs per game average.

Bruce recorded 124 kills on the season and was third on the Pirates with a .256 hitting percentage. Her hitting percentage was the 14th-best in the conference among players with at least three attacks per game. She accumulated 62 service aces and had 30 total blocks.

Bruce and the #20 Pirates begin postseason play on Thursday (Nov. 9) at 7:00 p.m.. against Averett University at the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament hosted by Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.
