Nov. 6, 2006 The Southwestern University volleyball team was one of 17 teams to earn at-large bids to the 60 team field for the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship The South Regional will be hosted by Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. Joining Southwestern will be host and fellow SCAC member Trinity, SCAC member Austin College, Emory, Averett University and Hardin-Simmons University. The Pirates are the fourth seed in the regional and will face Averett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 9). If SU wins, the Pirates will face top-seeded Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 10). The Pirates finished the regular season with an overall record of 29-8 and a 13-5 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The berth to the NCAA tournament will be the second-straight for SU. Last season, the Pirates fell in the South Region semi-finals to #1 Emory University. SU Sports Information |
