Lingamfelter Earns Backrow Player of the Year; One of Four All-SCAC Selections

Sophomore Samantha Lingamfelter (New Braunfels, TX/New Braunfels HS) was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Backrow Player of the Year in voting by the conference's head coaches, joining three other Pirates on the All-SCAC team.

Lingamfelter received six of the twelve votes for the Backrow Player of the Year award. The sophomore finished the regular season leading the conference with 5.17 digs per game. She was named to the Second Team and was one of just two defensive specialists to earn all-conference honors. Last season, Lingamfelter was a Third Team All-SCAC honoree.

Senior setter Marie Bruce (Austin, TX/Connally HS) was the sole Pirate and one of two setters on the First Team. During the course of the regular season, Bruce averaged 10.80 assists per game. She also managed to average 3.06 digs per game and 1.13 kills per game. This is her third time to be named All-SCAC, being named First Team in 2005 and Second Team in 2006. Bruce was an Honorable Mention All-Region selection in 2006.

Senior outside hitter Katy Lukaszewski (Pasadena, TX/Deer Park HS) was named to the Second Team. She has been one of the Pirates' top offensive threats, recording 357 kills for a 3.13 kill per game average. She has also averaged 3.66 digs per game and is third on the team in blocks. Lukaszewski was a Third Team performer in 2005 and Second Team in 2006.

Audra Gentry, a sophomore outside hitter, was a Third Team All-SCAC selection. She leads the team in kills per game with a 3.18 average, good for 10th in the conference. She has 385 total kills and a .197 hitting percentage. Gentry has been a force all season for SU, recording a career-high 21 kills against Rhodes on October 6.
