The #18 SU volleyball team fell in five sets (30-27, 20-30, 28-30, 30-21, 6-15) to NCAA Division II Texas A&M International University on Tuesday (Oct. 2) night in Laredo, TX Sophomore middle Lauren Brown (Austin, TX/Saint Michael's Academy) led the Pirates with a team-high 17 kills while committing only four errors for a .406 attack percentage. She also added five digs, two block solos and one block assist. Senior Katy Lukaszewski (Pasadena, TX/Deer Park HS) recorded 14 kills and a team-high 26 digs for a double-double. Setter Marie Bruce (Austin, TX/Connally HS) dished out 45 assists and also had 17 digs for SU. Audra Gentry (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia Preparatory) also had double-digit kills, notching 12. Sophomore Samantha Lingamfelter (New Braunfels, TX/New Braunfels HS) averaged five digs per game with 25. The loss drops the Pirates' season record to 13-4 while TAMIU improved to 5-11. Southwestern travels to Memphis, TN this coming weekend (Oct. 6-7) for four games at the SCAC Central/West Divisional where the Pirates will play Birmingham-Southern College, Rhodes College, Hendrix College and #5 Trinity University.
