Head Coach Hannah Long Hannah Long begins her fifth season as the head volleyball coach for the Pirates. In just four seasons at the helm, Long has found quick success. Named the 2005 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Coach-of-the-Year, Long led Southwestern to a 17-1 conference mark and a share of the 2005 SCAC volleyball title - the program's third conference championship and first since 1997. The team advanced to the NCAA Division III South Regional semifinals. In her four seasons in Georgetown, Long has compiled a 122-36 overall record and a 53-15 record in SCAC play. In 2005 the 36-5 mark represented the most wins in a single-season for Southwestern since joining the league in 1994. She is the third Southwestern coach to earn SCAC Volleyball Coach-of-the-Year honors - following Glada Munt in 1994 and Scott Mayhew in 1997. In 2007, she led the Pirates to another impressive season with a 30-9 record overall and 13-5 in the SCAC. Last year, Long led the Pirates to an overall record of 30-12 (8-6 SCAC) while also receiving an at-large bid and a third straight appearance to the NCAA Division III championship tournament again advancing to the South Regional semifinals. From the bench, Long has mentored numerous All-SCAC and All-Region selections. In 2007, Long coached two AVCA Division III Honorable Mention All-America team picks in Marie Bruce and Samantha Lingamfelter (who also was the 2007 Backrow Player of the Year in the SCAC). A two-sport standout at Portland State University, Long served as the assistant volleyball coach at her alma mater before serving as the assistant coach at Western Oregon University. Long received a master's degree in higher education administration from Texas A&M University, while also serving as the head volleyball coach for the Brazos Valley Juniors Volleyball Program. She has coached club volleyball for many years along the way and has been a club director as well.
