Laura Kromann

Nov. 15, 2007

The Southwestern University had six players, tied for the most by any team, named to the 2007 women's soccer All-SCAC Team that was announced on Wednesday (Nov. 14).

Sophomore Laura Kromann (Austin, TX/Bowie HS), the 2006 SCAC Newcomer of the Year, was selected to the First Team for the second straight year. Kromann scored four goals and had two assists for the Pirates. She was a leader on the field for the Pirates as a sophomore team captain and scored two game-winning goals.

Goalkeeper Eryn Snyder (Spring Branch, TX/Smithson Valley HS) earned her second All-Conference selection, this time as a First Team honoree. In 2005, Snyder was named to the Third Team. She started every game this season, posting a 1.28 goals against average while stopping 76.5 percent of shots she faced. Snyder also recorded three shutouts and partook in four team shutouts.

Sophomore forward A.J. Andreola (Garland, TX/Berkner HS) was a Second Team selection. She tied for the team lead with 10 goals and was second with 23 points. Andreola tied for third in the conference in goals scored and was tied for fifth in points. She scored two game-winners for the Pirates.

First-year Amy Douglas (Missouri City, TX/Hightower HS) made the Third Team and was one vote away from Second Team. Douglas led the team with 26 points, scoring 10 goals and dishing out six assists. Her 26 points were the third-highest total in the SCAC. Her four game-winning goals tied for second-most in the conference.

Senior Amanda Gunzelman (Houston, TX/Cypress Springs HS) also made her first appearance on the team, garnering Third Team honors. A team captain, she helped bolster a Pirate defense that allowed only 22 goals and kept opponents under 100 shots on goal for the year.

First-year Danielle Madison (Paradise Valley, AZ/Arcadia HS), a midfielder, occupies the final spot on the team taken by Southwestern players. Madison made her presence felt on the field for SU by scoring seven goals in her inaugural campaign. She also had one assist for 15 points, the fourth-highest total on the team. Madison had one game-winner on the season.
