The SU women's golf team took fourth place at the NCAA Division III National Championship, improving upon last season's 10th-place finish, closing out play on the 2007 season in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL on Friday (May 11). Kristen Davenport (Mansfield, TX/Mansfield HS) shot a five over par 78 for the Pirates' low round of the day. The first-year tallied a 328 (85-83-82-78) over the four days, finishing in a tie for 21st. Sophomore Marisa Mauldin (Utopia, TX/Utopia HS) fired an 85 for a tournament total of 324 (80-82-77-85), putting her in a three-way tie for 15th. Brittni Pine (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands HS) also totaled 85 for the final round. She ended play in a 47th-place tie with a final score of 342 (93-81-83-85). Sophomore Delilah Dominguez (Bastrop, TX/Bastrop HS) tied for 30th while first-year Cody Wallace (Austin, TX/Lake Travis HS) finished tied for 58th. Dominguez totaled 334 (88-73-85-88) and Wallace shot a 350 (87-85-88-90). Methodist University won for the eighth year in a row, shooting 47 over par with a 1215. DePauw University (1303) came in second place, followed by Gustavus Adolphus College (1318), Southwestern (1322) and the University of St. Thomas (1325). Southwestern finishes the season with its best finish ever. The Pirates will return their entire roster next season.
