Day three of the NCAA Division III National Championship saw the Southwestern University women's golf team drop one spot to third place overall, two strokes behind DePauw University on Thursday (May 10) in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. Marisa Mauldin (Utopia, TX/Utopia HS) had the low round of the day for the Pirates, firing a 77. Mauldin now stands at 239 (80-82-77) in 10th place, just three strokes out of the top five. First-year Kristen Davenport (Mansfield, TX/Mansfield HS) had her best 18 of the tournament, bringing her total to 250 (85-83-82) and tying her for 27th place. Brittni Pine (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands HS) shot an 83, bringing her three-round total to 257 (93-81-83). Sophomore Delilah Dominguez (Bastrop, TX/Bastrop HS) is now tied for 20th with a 246 (88-73-85) and Cody Wallace (Austin, TX/Lake Travis HS) has tallied a 260 (87-85-88) for a 51st-place tie. Methodist University has increased its lead to a seemingly insurmountable 69 strokes. DePauw (984) is in second, followed by Southwestern (986), Gustavus Adolphus College (990) and the University of St. Thomas (993). The final round will be played on Friday (May 11) with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
