The SU Pirate women's golf team jumped two spots in to second place at the NCAA Division III National Championship on Wednesday (May 9) in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. Sophomore Delilah Dominguez (Bastrop, TX/Bastrop HS) improved by 15 strokes to shoot an even par 73, giving her a two-day total of 161 (88-73). She is currently in 10th place, 12 strokes off of the lead, after being tied for 47th after the first round. Fellow sophomore Marisa Mauldin (Utopia, TX/Utopia HS) is sitting just one stroke back at 162 (80-82). She will go in to the third round of play tied for 11th place. First-year Brittni Pine (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands HS) shot an eight-over 81, bringing her total to 174 (93-81), leaving her in a tie for 47th place. First-year Kristen Davenport (Mansfield, TX/Mansfield HS) is now at 168 (85-83) while Cody Wallace (Austin, TX/Lake Travis HS) four strokes behind her with a 172 (87-85). Davenport is tied for 25th and Wallace is in a six-way tie for 39th. Methodist College upped its lead to 47 strokes over the Pirates with a two-day total of 612. Behind Methodist are Southwestern (659), DePauw University (663), Gustavus Adolphus College (666) and the University of St. Thomas (675). Round three will take place on Thursday (May 10) with tee times yet to be determined.
