Head Coach Dan Ruyle Dan Ruyle is in his eighth season of coaching the men's and women's golf programs at Southwestern. During his time at SU, he has helped both programs become visible on the national level. His women's program has been to the NCAA Division III National Championship the past two seasons and finished fourth at last years championship. Ruyle has developed many golfers, both on the course and off. He has had many men and women named to the GCAA and NGCA All-Scholar teams, respectively. Marisa Mauldin was also named NGCA 2nd Team All-American last season. Every year Coach Ruyle has players named to the SCAC All-Conference team. Mauldin won the women's conference championship last season as a sophomore. Ruyle also helped his women's team to their first conference championship under his tutelage last season. He received SCAC Coach of the Year honors last season. Coach Ruyle is not only involved with his team, but is involved in the administration of collegiate golf. He served a five year term on the NCAA Men's Golf Championships Committee. He was the chair of the committee his last two years. He is also very involved with the GCAA and NGCA. He is currently serving on both associations poll committees. Coach Ruyle was recently named the Division III Director for the GCAA. Prior to becoming the golf coach at SU, Ruyle honed his teaching skills at Wildflower Country Club in Temple, TX. He gained valuable knowledge of the golf swing while teaching all levels of golfers. He had a particular interest in working with the junior golfers at Wildflower. Ruyle also played in some small professional events during his time as an assistant golf professional. He has now regained his amateur status and enjoys playing golf with friends and in competitive amateur events. Coach Ruyle received his BBA in Marketing from West Texas A&M University in the summer of 1997. He was also a member of the golf team for one season while at WTAMU. Ruyle was recently married and lives in Georgetown with his beautiful wife Erin. Coach Ruyle enjoys all sports and running with his wife. |
