The Southwestern women's basketball team used a 12-0 run to go ahead 15-4 in the early going and never let up en route to a 79-65 win on the road against the University of Dallas in Irving, TX. The Pirates got a strong 21 points and eight rebounds from junior forward Natasha Azizi (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch HS) for her fourth double-digit scoring game of the season. She was 8-12 from the floor and 5-11 from the charity stripe. Senior Jessica Hoch (Garden City, TX/Garden City HS) put up 16 points for SU on 6-8 shooting. Hoch was also a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Southwestern used a strong inside game against Dallas as the team attemted just eight three-pointers all game. SU shot 51.9 percent (28-54) from the field and was 20-28 on free throws. The Pirates held a 37-29 advantage in rebounds and forced UD to commit 19 turnovers while SU committed just 14.
