Lozano and Strine Lead Five Pirates in All-SCAC Recognition

Five men's soccer players represent Southwestern on the 2007 All-SCAC (Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) Team that was released on Wednesday (Nov. 14), led by four-time All-SCAC nominee Kyle Strine (Houston, TX/Klein Oak HS) and junior David Lozano (Austin, TX/University of Dayton).

Strine was third on the team in goals (6) and points (15) this season while also tying for the team lead in assists with three. He also had one game-winning goal this season. Strine has been an All-Conference performer in every season of his college career with this being his first time to make First Team. The previous three years he was named to the Third Team.

Lozano makes his second appearance to the All-SCAC Team, this year as a First Team honoree. Last season, he was a Third Team selection. During the 2007 season, Lozano netted eight goals along with three assists for 19 points. Six of hid eight goals and two of his assists came in SCAC contests.

Junior defender Kevin O'Neil (San Antonio, TX/Churchill HS) received his first selection to the All-Conference team. A Second Team selection, O'Neil led a Pirate defense that allowed opponents to score just 17 goals for an average of less than one goal per game. He also added one goal and one assist on the season.

Goalkeeper Ryan Tasin (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS), a junior, was named Second Team All-SCAC. He allowed just 16 goals, appearing in all 20 games this season for the Pirates. Tasin posted a goals against average of 0.89, a save percentage of 0.818 and he recorded six shutouts while taking part in three more team shutouts. This is his first All-Conference honor.

Junior Josh Spencer (Huntsville, TX/Southern Methodist University), a forward, was named to the Third Team. Spencer led the Pirates in goals with 10 and points with 21. Spencer scored seven goals and had one assist in conference play for 15 points, tied for third-most in the SCAC.
