First-year Stephen Gehring (College Station, TX/A&M Consolidated HS) and junior Marisa Mauldin (Utopia, TX/Utopia HS) have been named SU Student-Athletes of the Week as both recorded tournament wins at the Alamo City Classic.

Gehring fired two rounds of par or better for a 1-under 143 (72-71) and the first tournament win of his collegiate career. He now joins Christopher Paiz as the only Pirates to earn an individual title as a first-year. Gehring helped the SU men to their first tournament title since the 1999-2000 season.

Mauldin's win was her second of the season and fourth of her career. She is now one win away from tying the Southwestern record for career wins. Mauldin shot a 156 to win the tournament by three strokes. It was the first tournament win of the year for the team which has finished second on two occasions already.
