On Saturday (Dec. 8) evening in Irving, TX, the SU Pirate men's basketball team fell to 3-3 on the season after a tough 68-58 loss at the University of Dallas. Mike Powell (Houston, TX/Episcopal HS) followed up his career-high 24 point performance against Austin College with 17 points on 5-11 shooting from the floor. The senior was 3-5 from three-point range and 4-4 at the free throw line. Fellow senior Matt Caplan (Houston, TX/University of Kansas) added 11 for the Pirates and led the team with four rebounds. SU struggled on the boards, pulling down just 18 compared the crusaders who had 28. Both teams shot the ball well with Southwestern connecting on 50.0 percent (19-38) from the floor and 56.3 percent (9-16) from beyond the arc. UD, however, hit 55.0 percent (23-42) of its shots in the game. The Pirates are now 3-3 on the year. More info to come... center>SU Sports Information |
