Head Coach Bill Raleigh Raleigh is in his ninth season as head coach of the Southwestern University men's basketball program. Bill Raleigh has built the Pirates into a tough competitive ball club that have finished as high as 3rd in the SCAC in his tenure. Coach Raleigh has turned the the Pirates into a consistent winner with an overall record of 114-88. In the 2002-2003 season, Raleigh guided them to an 18-9 ledger while going 10-4 in the SCAC with a fourth place finish. His efforts were rewarded with being named the SCAC Coach of the Year. The 2004-2005 season has been the highlight of his tenure. Producing the school's best-ever record at 11-3 in SCAC play along with a career high 20 wins (20-7), the mens basketball team entered the SCAC tournament as the No. 1 seed for the first time ever. He captured another well-deserved SCAC Coach of the Year honors, while coaching Aaron Bowser to SCAC Player of the Year. Bowser not only received SCAC POY but was also the first-ever Southwestern basketball player to be honored, as well as garnering First Team All-SCAC, along with being selected as a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Third-Team All-American. Raleigh has produced 6 All-SCAC selections and 8 All-SCAC honorable mention picks. Raleigh has also coached two 1,000 point scorers, the first players to record this achievement at Southwestern. Aaron Bowser and Robert Cates both scored their 1,000 point in the 2004-2005 season. The Pirates have finished in third place in the SCAC two times (the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons) under Raleigh. Raleigh came to Southwestern after spending three years as the head men's basketball coach and head golf coach at the University of Dallas (1996-1999). Before his first head coaching position he was an assistant coach for a number of years at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA, as well as an assistant at Washington & Lee in Lexington, VA. Raleigh graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA in 1988 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Four years later, he received his Juris Doctor Degree from Seton Hall University's School of Law. A native of Colts Neck, NJ, Bill now resides in Georgetown with his wife Maureen and two daughters.
