Otto Closes Out his Collegiate Cross Country Career at NCAA Championships

Jameson Otto

Nov. 18, 2006

Southwestern University senior Jameson Otto (Carrollton, TX/Creekview HS) fought through muddy conditions at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in West Chester, OH on Saturday (Nov. 18) to place 185th out of 279 runners.

The course conditions were so bad that everyone was running slow. The mud-splattered Otto crossed the finish line in 29:26, just under three minutes behind the 2006 NCAA Division III Champion Macharia Yuot of Widener University.

Otto was the first-ever male athlete to reach the National Championships under head Cross Country coach Francie L. Smith. This season, he recorded the first individual title of his career at the Texas State Division III Cross Country Championships and earned All-Region honors for the third-straight year.
