Allen is a 2007 graduate of Shelton High School in Dallas, TX. He was a four year letter-winner in both cross country and track for the Chargers and also competed in basketball.

Allen is the son of J. Allen and Jane Smith. He has one sister, Christine. Allen is majoring in Communications Studies and minoring in Kinesiology while at Southwestern.
